The Dean of LTH wishes you an early merry Christmas and a happy new year!

At LTH, there is a certain problem-solving spirit, and many committed individuals who want to make the best of LTH’s education, research and external engagement. Soon it will be time for some well-deserved rest, to gather energy for a new year in which we will continue to develop ourselves and LTH, writes LTH’s Dean Annika Olsson in a seasonal greeting to all LTH students and staff.

The winter chill and December are here, and from my perspective this year has gone by at breakneck speed.

We have studied and worked remotely, we have returned to ‟normal” activities on campus and kept an eye on new measures we may need to take to reduce the spread of infection. And together, we have continued to explore and create, to benefit the world.

In January, I became Dean of LTH, and what a twelve-month ride it has been!

The Faculty Management and I would like to express our warmest thanks to you and to everyone for the past year. What is obvious to us is that LTH is a faculty with many committed individuals who want to do their absolute best for LTH. I have thought about this many times and in many different contexts – problem-solving LTH-ers embody a certain spirit!

My warmest thanks also for all the curiosity and all the hard work in education, research and our collaboration with wider society, and for the way you constantly pivoted to adapt to the pandemic’s changing circumstances!

Soon it will be time for a well-deserved rest, when I hope you will have the opportunity to gather energy and regroup for a new year, a new spring, when we will continue to develop ourselves and LTH.

Finally, I would like to highlight something from 2021

This year, we celebrated LTH turning 60 with a jubilee lecture, among other things, including discussions about innovations and how LTH could contribute more solutions for the world’s benefit. The importance of LTH’s environments and innovation models became clear during the panel discussions, moderated by LTH Honorary Doctor Johan Wester.

And I would like to take this opportunity already to wish you a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year!
