Scholarships

Every year, LTH is allocated scholarships funds to award to new fee-paying students within the framework of the Lund University Global Scholarship, LUGS. The aim of the LUGS scholarships is to increase the number of new, academically excellent fee-paying students able to start their studies at Lund University.

If LTH doesn't succeeded in awarding all scholarship funds to newly admitted students, remaining funds can be allocated for LUGS scholarships for current students.

Scholarship results for the current application round

Only if any scholarship funds remains, the nomination procedure will take place in September. Applicants will be informed about the result early October 2026, by the latest. LTH only awards LUGS scholarships for current students for semester 4 and all current fee-paying students will have to pay for semester 3. Awarded scholarships for semester 4 can cover part of OR the full tuition fee.

The next application round of LUGS for current students opens in May 2027. In order to apply when the application round opens, you will need your universityadmissions.se application number, and the email address you used when you applied to the programme at universityadmissions.se in order to login to the application platform.

Follow-up on awarded scholarships

If a student who holds a LUGS scholarship proves to be unsuitable as an awardee, the scholarship may be withdrawn. Reasons for withdrawal can be for example:

  • lack of motivation to study (usually a combination of low attendance and insufficient study results, which cannot be attributed to illness or other mitigating circumstances)
  • disciplinary reports
  • legal offences
  • offensive behaviour

An individual review will be conducted in every such case and any recommendation on withdrawal of a scholarship shall be decided by the management group for first and second cycle programmes (LGGU). The final decision on scholarship withdrawal is taken by the vice-chancellor of LU. Follow-up of study results for scholarship recipients will be done after semesters 1 and 2.

Through an agreement with Sweden’s Engineers and the Environmental Fund (Miljöfonden) LTH students can apply from funding if they are writing environment-related theses. The grants are meant to promote projects that aim to improve the physical environment in Sweden and its immediate surroundings, and can include many different types of projects dealing with environmental work.

The aim is that the results of these theses will lead to new companies and new jobs and/or implemented solutions in the physical environment in Sweden.

There are 10 scholarships for LTH students in 2026/2027 with 50 000 SEK per thesis. The grant is aimed at students enrolled in a three- or five-year Engineering programme, the Fire Protection Engineering programme or a two-year Master's programme at LTH.

Please note that students on the following Master's programmes are unfortunately not eligible for the scholarship: Architecture, Digital Architecture and Emergent Future, Sustainable Urban Design, Industrial Design.
