Mental health and support

If you have problems with, for example, stress, performance or exam anxiety, fear of speaking in front of others, anxiety, relationship problems, alcohol problems, difficulty sleeping, depression or want to change your lifestyle, you can turn to our psychological counsellors at LTH. You can also contact the Student Health Centre at Lund University, student priests or psychologists at the end of their education at LU.

LTH's Psychological Counsellors

LTH counsellors are qualified social workers with advanced training in cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT). The counsellors at LTH meet hundreds of students every year and are used to all kinds of issues. Many students find themselves in unsustainable situations which is possible to overcome with the right support.

You can turn to them if you find yourself in a situation where you are in need of support and advice - not necessarily related to your studies. LTH counsellors are bound to confidentiality and you can visit them free of charge.

We work during the day. If necessary, we book an appointment for a call. We usually have a waiting time of 2-6 weeks, but the waiting times varies over the school year. Contact us by phone or e-mail.

LTH's psychological counsellors are available on both Lund- and Helsingborg campus.

Professional secrecy

The counsellors have a duty of confidentiality under the Secrecy Act, but they also have a certain obligation to report. It applies to knowledge of whether a child is being harmed or of a crime that can result in at least two years' imprisonment. It is therefore unlikely that LTH's counsellors will find themselves in a situation where they have to break confidentiality.

Other support

The Student Health at Lund University focus on problems related to your student life. If you have problems with, for example, stress, performance or exam anxiety, fear of speaking in front of others, procrastination, anxiety, alcohol problems, difficulty sleeping, depression or want to change your lifestyle, you have come to the right place.

LTH counsellors provide you support and advice while you study at LTH, but they are not a substitute for medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. If you are experiencing severe anxiety or depression and maybe thinking about taking your life, you need to contact the adult psychiatry emergency centre that is open 24 hours a day.
