Sweden's Engineers Environmental Fund Scholarship

Engineering students ans master's students at LTH wishing to address climate or environmental issues in their master's thesis can apply for a grant of up to SEK 50,000 from the Swedish Association of Graduate Engineers' Environmental Fund.

The scholarships are intended to promote projects that aim to improve the physical environment in Sweden and its surrounding areas and can include many different types of projects that deal with environmental work. The goal is that the results of these thesis projects will lead to new companies and new jobs and/or implemented solutions in the physical environment in Sweden.

There are 10 scholarships for LTH students in 2026/2027 with 50 000 SEK per thesis. The grant is aimed at students enrolled in a three- or five-year Engineering programme, the Fire Protection Engineering programme or a two-year Master's programme at LTH.

Unfortunately students taking the following Masters’s programmes are not eligible: Architecture, Digital Architecture and Emergent Futures, Sustainable Urban Design and Industrial Design.

Assessment

The application is assessed based on the scholarship’s criteria:

  1. The idea sketch shows that the upcoming degree project is of high scientific quality.
  2. A description is given of how the thesis will contribute to solving an environmental problem.
  3. It is clear how the scholarship increases the possibility of implementing the solution.
  4. It is taken into account how close the applicant is to fulfilling the requirements for starting the degree project.

An assessment group, including representatives from LU Innovation, reviews the applications and suggests which students should receive the scholarship. The board of the Environmental Fund decides which students will be awarded the scholarship. Members of Engineers of Sweden have priority for the scholarship.

Applications that are not complete or do not in a fundamental way meet the purpose of the scholarship will not be considered.
